Carl Goodman

Carl is a native of Ontario. In the early 1980s, Carl’s work brought him to New Brunswick with his young family, where his love for Bluegrass music sparked.

Moving back to Ontario in 1986 where Carl performed for years on the Canadian Bluegrass circuit. Carl also had the great pleasure to play bluegrass music in the company of talented musicians, with the bands Blueridge, Grassworks, Level Crossing and Grasstic Measures.

In addition to being an accomplished musician, Carl is also a gifted song writer. His songs have been recorded by notables Ralph Stanley and the Country Gentlemen, as well as his own recording projects.

In the fall of 2016, Carl was ready to embark on a fresh new music journey and that’s when BIG JOHN was born, collaborating with lifelong buddy Bobby Nicholas and  Amber-Dawn Nicholas.
