PETER PAVLOVSKY

Originally from Saskatchewan, Peter has been living in Ontario for the last 25 years and performing a wide variety of musical styles.

After having studied classical double bass at the Glenn Gould School in Toronto, and at the University of Musical Arts in Prague, Czech Republic, Peter performed with prestigious national ensembles, including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the National Arts Centre Orchestra, and the National Ballet of Canada.  He has been privileged to work with some great conductors, including Pinchas Zuckerman, Helmuth Rilling, Simon Streatfeild, and Jukka-Pekka Saraste.

Peter has premiered numerous Canadian contemporary works with Arraymusic, Esprit Orchestra, and has spent a number of years as a performing artist at The Banff Centre.

Peter has also enjoyed playing in the pits of Broadway shows such as Wicked, The Sound of Music, The Lord of the Rings, Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, The Wizard of Oz, South Pacific, Cinderella, and many others.

Active in the Toronto recording industry, Peter has been on many broadcasts for CBC, and can be heard on several movie soundtracks, commercials, and classical recordings.

In 2010, Peter went back to school to earn an education degree, and is currently employed with the Halton District School Board, where he teaches music to young minds. Peter inspires a love and passion for music in his students, and hopes to pass on the benefits of his rich musical experience.

It was through the teaching aspect of their careers that Peter crossed paths with Amber, and after a few informal jam sessions was invited to get together with Big John. Peter's personality and musicianship meshed well with the other band members and the rest is history. Peter is thrilled to be a part of Big John and to have the opportunity to perform with some of the finest acoustic roots musicians around.
